May, 2013
Dear Moultrie Families,
May is upon us and as you
are all aware, all students will be taking the state PASS assessments next week.
The schedule is as follows:
- Tues. May 7th- English Language Arts for all
students
- Wed. May 8th- Mathematics for all students
- Thurs. May 9th- Science for 7th grade
&Science or Social Studies for 6th and 8th grade
- Fri. May 10th- Social Studies for 7th
grade
Our students and teachers
have been working hard all year and we know that our students are ready to show
us what they know on these important tests. Parents can help by making sure that
students are well rested, have a good breakfast, and come to school ready and
confident to tackle testing. We have already seen tremendous growth and
development this year as evidenced by the MAP tests and know students will work
hard next week. Thank you for helping us emphasize the importance of this time.
A great deal of information
can be found on the website including a calendar with the myriad of events,
concerts, and activities taking place in May. Of particular note are the
year-end awards ceremonies:
6th grade- Wednesday June
5th - 9 am in the cafeteria
7th grade-Tuesday June
4th-9 am in the cafeteria
8th grade-Tuesday June 4th
-Class Night at the Wando Performing Arts Center. 8th grade students will be
bringing home information and it can also be found on the website.
Also on the website are
grade level summer reading lists and supply lists for next year along with other
important updates for the coming school year. PTA is offering School Supply Kits
again this year and the order form must be turned in to our front office by May
10. Forms can be found on the website as well.
Save the dates!
August 8- Fact and
Fee
August 21- First day back
to school for students
Final report cards
will be mailed home on June 10th . If you receive a financial obligation form
instead of a report card, you will need to settle fees at Moultrie
Middle School any time between 8am and
2pm Monday through Thursday during our summer
hours. Once the fees are settled, we will provide you with your
student's report card. If you would like to check on any unpaid fees before the
end of school, please call the school and we will gladly assist you.
Last week, the PTA helped
us celebrate our teachers and thank them for all the hard work and dedication to
our students every day. Special thanks go out to everyone that showered our
teachers and staff with goodies, food, and special tokens of appreciation. We
are blessed with the hardest working PTA around and the entire Moultrie
community is appreciative of their time, efforts, and amazing energy! We have a
wonderful new slate of PTA board members and we are looking forward to another
great year.
This is our last Moultrie
Matters for the 2012-2013 school year and I would like to thank everyone for
your hard work and dedication this year. We wish our 8th grade students and
parents the best of luck as you head off to high school and know that you are
ready for many successes! On behalf of the entire Moultrie family, we wish you
and your family a safe and fun filled summer. Don't forget to READ, READ, READ!
Doctrina Perpetua,
Anna Dassing
